Overview

Aukštojas Hill stands at 293m and is the highest point in all of Lithuania. The summit is surrounded by Pine Trees. It is one of the lesser known Peaks in the Crown of Europe and quite surprisingly, wasn’t even discovered until 2004. Until then, it was thought that Juozapinė Hill was the highest point; which is located only 500m away.

It is located near the Vilnius region, only 24kms away in the Medininkai Highlands and is very easily accessible!

How to get there

You can reach Aukstojas Hill by firstly reaching the Capital of Lithuania, Vilnius. Vilnius can be reached very easily by plane, train or car, dependant on where you are coming from. If you are leaving from the UK, you can fly directly into Vilnius and land at Vilnius Airport. Once there, you can either decide to spend the night in Vilnius or head straight to Aukstojas Hill.

From Vilnius, you can reach the peak most easily by car, which is only a 40 minute drive away. If you would prefer to take public transport, you can take the 211 bus line until you reach the stop 3-ieji Medininkai. You will then be able to walk to the peak.

The Route

At only a 4 minute hike up to the peak, the Route is not very difficult. From the parking lot, you can simply follow the path to the peak. Once you arrive at the peak, you will reach a watchtower where you can take some beautiful photos and watch over the sunset if you visit later in the day!
